3/8: Reminders, Feedback & Changes

Hello, it's been a while! Preparations for SKY×CROSSING 2026 are well underway and I have a few updates about this year's. This blog post contains two main sections:

Reminders & Addressing Feedback

Thank you for all your feedback and contributions to helping SxC flourish!

Since I believe feedback is a two-way street, please allow me to remind on some housekeeping rules! These have also been added to the Rules Page.

No NSFW

Strictly no NSFW allowed in the #skycross tag.

If you are an NSFW-focused account, you are still welcome to participate in the art challenge but please keep the # tags SFW and refrain from attaching explicit NSFW content, threads, conversations etc. to #skycross-tagged posts; this includes:

  • posting NSFW content in reply to the #skycross-tagged post

  • QRT-ing the #skycross-tagged post with NSFW content

For the safety of all viewers, we ask that SFW and NSFW be strictly separate and to treat SKY×CROSSING akin to a PG-13 rating*.

*This may be dependent on the worldview, as some may carry darker themes but as a general rule, anything explicit should be appropriately tagged and we ask that participants consider all ages when posting.

About usage of #skycross tag

Please remember to keep tagged posts relevant to SKY×CROSSING, not about life updates or other miscellaneous topics!

Would also like to re-emphasize...

The point of this event/art challenge is to be hosted on the platform Bluesky.

  • While this does come with limitations, participants are encouraged to get creative and are more than welcome to utilise other platforms/mediums (e.g. Magma, Discord etc.) to help make SxC a more enjoyable experience.

  • As of current however, Inoki has no intention to create a Discord server dedicated to SxC so as to avoid taking activity away from the main intended platform, Bluesky.

  • In addition, we do have a dedicated toyhouse world to SxC but cross-posting is secondary so it may not always be up to date. This website & Bluesky will always be the main priority, so we thank you for your patience in regards to toyhouse activity and its delays.

You tailor your own experience.

  • Should you find yourself wanting more out of SKY×CROSSING than the event itself provides, be the change you wish to see! Not enough RPing, collabs or social interaction in general? You know what to do!

  • Unfortunately, I am unable to provide more than what I already do but I look forward to seeing all the creative ideas, collaboration opportunities and participant-hosted events that may spawn!

This is a community-based event!

  • While you are not obligated to interact with everyone, sharing (🔁/❤/💬) and encouraging good vibes all around does wonders for us all. Let's make SKY×CROSSING a fun and welcoming event!

  • Additionally, I hope that it is understood that, while I am the one solo host, SKY×CROSSING is an event for the community which means I act on behalf of the community. I listen to feedback and take in suggestions, so if anything about the event changes, or if individuals are requested to tag their posts appropriately or remove them, likely it is not personal but for the sake of (or even reported by) the community. Thank you for your understanding and I pray that we can all be responsible, mature individuals on the internet.

Clearer Guidelines on the way

We also received feedback on confusion surrounding the boundaries of what participants were allowed to do within the world of SxC, and what kind of contributions would be acceptable. In light of this, a new page (or blog post) will be written up and added to the site in hopes to clarify. (Will come back to update this at a later date)

Changes to SKY×CROSSING itself

Changes which I hope will be improvements! Remember, I'm still trying things out so things may be a little different each time until I find my rhythm 🙏

New # tag for Prompt 1: Introduction

For easier navigation of characters and participants, I've decided to create a separate feed for the Introduction prompt! Please use #skycrossintro when posting~

  • You're welcome to still use #skycross! Just that the intro tag helps tidy things a bit.

This run will be a bit different...

Events & the Conclusion are options

  • Honestly, writing out the events and the conclusion just didn't sit right with me. Going forward from here, I'd like to present them as mere options instead—like "what if's" you can choose to include in "your canon" or not; like optional flavour text inserted into the narrative that can be entirely rejected.

Reframing the "2 events"

The homepage states:

There will be two "events" declared that reveal a plot twist, a change in situation or some kind of revelation related to the worldview.

...But I'd like to lessen the activity amount since last time felt pretty full-on with too much packed in that it was difficult to keep up with everything. I think the prompts are plenty enough and events should just be, as mentioned, fully optional flavour text. As such, I will try to scale these down so that they're not showstoppers but rather, little prods to inspire activity and a sign of life from the world.

What this means in detail...

The formula of SKY×CROSSING is: The introduction of a world that has a Blue VS Red setting a purple element is presented then a conclusion that supposedly ties all the elements together.

■Last SKY×CROSSING looked like this:

Event 1: Wishing Stone introduced (reaction)

Event 2: Battle & Diplomatic Mission (escalation)

Conclusion: Peace & Coexistence (tie-in)

As you can see, this looks more like a third event snuck its way in there in the form of a "Conclusion". Finding that the escalation was a bit much, we will be omitting this in favour of the "Conclusion" coming earlier. This allows for more time to play in the "post-event" period, and removes the sudden climax drop at the end (that felt oddly timed to me, personally).

■Therefore, this time's SKY×CROSSING should look more like this:

Event 1: Hello Purple! (reaction)

Event 2: Conclusion (tie-in)

  • Currently, I'm considering that Conclusions will have multiple endings—a mix of my own idea(s) + participant suggestions that will be collected during the event! More on this later.

Otherwise, thank you for your time and I look forward to seeing you in this year's SKY×CROSSING!

Things have been crazy busy lately but I'm hoping to have more updates next weekend...! Or just generally over the course of this month.
