SKY×CROSSING is an art challenge inspired by Pixiv Fantasia, Art Fight, and monthly prompt challenges like Inktober, OCtober, etc. held for all of April, exclusively on the social media platform Bluesky. Created with the intention to provide a collaborative space for OC creators to gather and interact.
The three main components that make up SKY×CROSSING are:
1. The Worldview
A world will be decided upon for OCs to inhabit and interact in. An ongoing, main conflict between two sides sets the characters apart.
※There is no actual winner/loser. It's merely a premise and the real reward is the friends you make along the way.
2. Events
There will be two "events" declared that reveal a plot twist, a change in situation or some kind of revelation related to the worldview.
3. Prompts
30 prompts for creators to get inspired and build upon, whether together or solo.

Worldview
THE CRADLE
It is the Year 3026.
The sun has grown weak, casting the universe in a shroud of darkness.
With the Earth no longer habitable, humanity was forced to create new a civilisation in outer space. All of Earth's lifeforms were transported via the Ark to a man-made megastructure: The Cradle.
A massive orbital habitat built from seven interconnected sectors arranged around a central hub. Suspended in the void like a floating city, it houses the last remnants of known life immigrated from Earth.
This story takes place in the fifth sector, known as 5KY SECTOR.

The bustling city stays ever awake in eternal night with splashes of neon in every colour at every corner. Being the most innovative and advanced of the sectors, a mix of genius and madness is a daily occurrence in this fast-paced city known for its science and action.
Although moving whole civilisations over meant for a hard life at first, it is thanks to the progressive efforts of 5KY SECTOR that life in all seven sectors is relatively stable now.
The Cradle enjoyed a short period of peace...
But as humanity develops, new conflicts always arise.
No longer fighting for survival, society becomes the new battlefield for conflict.
Enforcement handling, medical ethics, and equal rights between subspecies are some of the sectors' many turmoils.
CURRENT NEWS ⚠️
A. OUTBREAK [MAIN]
A chemical has leaked into the artificial oxygen supply that scientists are labelling Chemical X. It is said to be a byproduct created in the atmosphere surrounding the Cradle as a result of civilisation moving to outer space.
All sectors are experiencing an ongoing phenomenon of "abilities" manifesting in the population. Spontaneous and volatile, these individuals have been branded as "catalysts" and cause destruction upon awakening to what the Ark has named a "SiXth Sense".
In response, two factions have risen up to the task of handling the matter with the Ark acting as benefactor for both.
B. ETHOS
The popular practice of converting memories into data and transferring them between vessels has been met with increasing concern along with other medical practices.
Society now questions: Are we tampering with nature and evolution? Data memories, genetic modification, cybernetic implants—necessary treatment or cosmetic luxuries?
C. RIGHTS
The Cradle has seen a drastic increase in the population as organic life entwines further with technological advancements. Which begs the question: How should one categorise those who are made up of more than 50% cybernetic implants?
Census results have yet to be released but it would not be surprising to find that humans—especially "pure", unaltered ones—are now the minority among the Cradle's citizens. With this revelation, hierarchies and concepts now seen as primitive are under fire. Why are genetically-evolved (or modified) individuals considered second-class citizens to "humans"? Do robots have rights?
Riots for equal rights continue daily in 5KY SECTOR.
※As a general guide, plotline A is the "main story", while B and C are subplots that happen in the background...but there's no reason why you couldn't make B/C YOUR main plot! Explore whichever and make your story!

SCARLET ZENITH

“To Rise Is To Serve.”
This faction believes in control and regulation: that siXth senses should be trained, monitored and supervised, and used for the sake of helping others.
Core Principles:
Noblesse oblige, order & unity, guidance. SiXth senses are privileges.
Members wear a pin bearing Scarlet Zenith's crest.
ASTRAL CIEL
【SIDE:BLUE】
"Shine As You Will."
This faction believes in acceptance and liberty: that siXth senses should be embraced with pride and used for oneself, for one's own whims.
Core Principles:
Expression, freedom & choice, possibilities. SiXth senses are gifts.
Members wear a blue ribbon that can be tied anywhere.
EYE.RIS NETWORK
【SIDE:PURPLE】
“Perception Is Prison.”
This faction is made up of victims and villains alike. Individuals from all fields and specialities—scientists, engineers, hackers, etc.—corrupted, whether willingly or not, amass here.
Before being known as a terrorist group, they were an underground cult.
No one knows the true identity of the mastermind, "the Puppeteer". Some suspect it may not even be one individual but several, or perhaps not even a life form at all.
Members have a digital tattoo branded anywhere on their body.
A glowing purple, upside-down triangle ▼ that tracks its members' activity and keeps them connected to the EYE.RIS NETWORK.
Character Creation

The more committed one is, the more of their faction's colour they will wear.

Feel free to make multiple OCs for either side but one OC cannot be aligned to both sides at the same time.

We have a wide range of species available to play as! Including but not limited to:

Humans, ESPERs, cyborgs, device heads, virtual idols, artificial intelligence, robots, androids, aliens, genetically-modified or evolved organisms

Think: How might humanity evolve 1000 years from now? If you can imagine it fitting in a sci-fi film/game, it probably exists here too!
Feel free to make up your own, mix and match, or add new developments to your character along the way!
Fashion
Futuristic, techwear, neon highlights, holographic, anything you'd see in the sci-fi genre.
SiXth Sense*
Any ability goes, but you can only have one.
※only lifeforms that breathe oxygen can become catalysts and possess a siXth sense, but not all necessary get affected by chemical X.
Weapon*
Anything sci-fi flavoured! High-tech, mechanical etc.
※only authorised personnel are issued weapons and usually one to main.
*SiXth senses & weapons are not mandatory and can come later when thought up (or never)
Role
Some ideas to inspire and illustrate the realm of possibility. Your OC could be:

A civilian turned catalyst on the run, causing disaster, or newly recruited into either faction

They could even be from another sector, or another planet or solar system entirely! Feel free to make up their origins.

This time's SKY×CROSSING is more open in that you do NOT have to pick a faction to participate, and can choose to explore any subplot you wish—whether that be any of the three provided, or your own made-up plot.

GLOSSARY

The Ark
A massive spaceship responsible for immigrating civilisation to outer space. Now refers to the higher authority that governs over the Cradle.

A megastructure constructed of seven sectors surrounding a core that powers the entire orbital habitat and the force field around it.

5KY SECTOR
The fifth sector known for being the pioneer of the Cradle's developments, possessing the most advanced technology.

Chemical X
A byproduct created by the atmosphere due to civilisation moving to outer space. Leaked into the artificial oxygen supply, affecting all living organisms that breathe oxygen.

SiXth Sense
A supernatural ability wielded by individuals known as catalysts. Typically cause destruction upon awakening due to lack of control.

Catalyst
Individuals affected by chemical X who manifested a siXth sense. Usually dealt with and recruited by the two factions: Scarlet Zenith and Astral Ciel.
